Ross Hodge and West Virginia Mountaineers men’s basketball continue to build serious momentum on the recruiting trail by landing a major piece for the future, 7-foot-1 center Amadou Seini. The Cameroonian big man’s commitment gives the Mountaineers a high-upside frontcourt anchor as they shape their 2026 class.
Seini recently took visits to Morgantown and Creighton before ultimately choosing West Virginia. While still considered a developing offensive prospect, his physical play alone makes him one of the more intriguing additions in the 2026 cycle.
How Good is Amadou Seini?
Seini turned heads on the international stage during the 2025 FIBA U19 World Cup, where he averaged nearly 9.9 points per game while setting an event record with over 15 rebounds per contest.
That production highlights what West Virginia is getting immediately: a relentless presence on the boards and a rim deterrent on defense.
At the high school level, he also played a key role for Bella Vista Prep during its Chipotle Nationals run. Surrounded by talent, he showcased his ability to clean up misses, finish around the rim, and protect that translate well to the college level.
How Amadou Seini Fits WVU’s Future Frontcourt
Seini joins a growing frontcourt that includes players like Aliou Dioum and Mouhammad Sylla, giving West Virginia a clear identity built around size and physicality.
More importantly, his addition strengthens an already promising 2026 class that includes guard Miles Sadler. The Mountaineers are quietly stacking versatile pieces across positions, balancing backcourt playmakers with long, athletic bigs.
From a roster-building standpoint, this commitment feels intentional. West Virginia is constructing a system where players like Seini can develop without immediate pressure to carry an offensive load.
Landing a prospect like this reinforces that Hodge’s approach is gaining traction. Targeting high-upside international talent, especially players with elite physical play, can be a difference-maker in today’s recruiting landscape.
For now, though, it’s a clear win for West Virginia as the program looks to reestablish itself as a force in college basketball.
