Wichita State forward Corey Washington has entered the transfer portal after spending just one season with the Shockers and a previous season at Saint Peter’s. Reportedly, he is already gaining attention from some top teams, including some SEC powerhouses.
As a freshman at Saint Peter’s, he earned All-MAAC Rookie Team honors after averaging 6.8 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. He averaged 15.9 points and 6.3 rebounds per game as a sophomore. In the 2024-25 season with Wichita State, Washington averaged 13.5 points and 7.4 rebounds per game, earning himself second-team All-ACC honors.

Forward Corey Washington has reportedly already received interest from Mississippi State and SMU, and he plans to visit both programs.

Mississippi State has lost at least seven players already this offseason, and it comes as no surprise that the head coach is seeking replacements, with Washington on their radar.
The SMU Mustangs also lost several players this offseason, and head coach Andy Enfield is seeking reinforcements. It is no surprise that Enfield is interested in Washington, as SMU lost Chuck Harris, Kario Oquendo, Tibet Gorener, and AJ George ahead of next season.
Corey Washington’s College Career So Far
Washington entered Saint Peter’s University in 2022 and spent two years with the program. In his two years at Saint Peter’s, he appeared in 54 total games, making 47 starts. He averaged 6.8 points and 4.9 rebounds in his rookie year, but his numbers grew significantly in his sophomore season.
He averaged 15.9 points and 6.3 rebounds in his sophomore season, earning All-MAAC First Team honors.

He was also named to the All-Met Second Team by the Metropolitan Basketball Writers Association.
He joined Wichita State for his junior year, where he averaged 13.7 points and 7.5 rebounds per game. He played in 34 games and started 33.
