UConn Huskies assistant coach and actor Bill Murray’s son, Luke Murray, was hired as the new head coach of Boston College. Murray will replace head coach Earl Grant, under whom Boston College was not able to break the NCAA Tournament appearance drought, which has extended to 17 years.
In the wake of latest firing, Murray’s personal life has come into spotlight and fans want to know about her wife.
Who is Luke Murray’s Wife?
Luke Murray met Kara Cassidy (now Kara Murray) through basketball circles. At the time, Kara was involved in women’s college basketball at the University of Pennsylvania while
Murray was in the early stages of his coaching career. There is also a report that claims that the two met on a flight when Murray was on his way to visit a recruit.
After dating for years, Luke and Kara got married on September 20, 2015, in Philadelphia. Bill Murray had to skip the Emmy Awards for the wedding. Luke’s wife is from Philadelphia. The couple shares three children: Luke Jr., Cash and Celine.
Kara went to Quinnipiac University to study marketing and completed her master’s in organizational leadership. Her post-graduation was completed in 2009. She started as a Sales Representative at ADP, staying in the role for two years before becoming an assistant women’s basketball coach at the University of Pennsylvania for four years. She rejoined ADP in Oct. 2013 and has grown in her role there from Sales Executive, Vice President of Sales Operations, to Vice President of Channel Sales.
Luke Murray Closes UConn Chapter
Luke Murray and the UConn Huskies are still in the middle of the NCAA Tournament when the news about Boston College hiring came out on Thursday. Under Dan Hurley at UConn, Murray has won two national championships.
After the hiring, Boston College athletic director Blake James said:
“In Luke Murray, we have found a leader who does not just understand the modern landscape of college basketball, he has helped define it. His role in building a national championship caliber program, his sophisticated offensive vision, and his relentless pursuit of excellence make him the perfect fit.”
It remains to be seen if Murray and UConn can win one more national championship together before he takes on the new role at Boston College.
