Analyst Throws Shade At Bronny James, Kiyan Anthony As USC’s Alijah Arenas ‘Refuses Nepotism’

One could argue that USC Trojan’s standout guard Alijah Arenas’ hooping ability is directly linked to the basketball blood that runs in his family, with his father, three-time NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas, potentially guiding his son every step of the way.

However, despite the basketball royalty that Alijah comes from, it seems like he is not getting his due recognition, pointed out an analyst. Analyst Eddielinks in his recent debrief surrounding Alijah’s dreamy run with the USC, calling him “the only nepotism kid that gets no nepotism.”

This statement comes on the backdrop of Alijah getting zero to no buzz despite his quite visible hooping ability, attributing it to his lack of online presence. He also threw shade on other nepotistic products like Bronny James and Kiyan Anthony, who seemingly get more headlines and coverage than Alijah.

Analyst Eddielinks reveals why Alijah Arenas is not getting the same hype as his nepotism counterparts (Post via Instagram/eddielinks__)

“Alijah Arenas is a 6’6″ guard who can shoot the basketball; he can create his own shot, and he’s actually going to be an NBA player, but they’re not giving him the same hype that they gave 6’2″ Bronny James and that they’re giving Kiyan Anthony coming off of the bench”, Eddielinks stated.

“If Alijah Arenas was more focused on TikTok and Instagram, he would be all over ESPN. ESPN doesn’t cover athletes anymore; they just cover stars.”, he further elaborated.

During his rant on the supposed injustice Arenas is currently facing, Eddielinks also called him a real star who’s actually helping his team win basketball games.

How Has Alijah Arenas Fared So Far This Season?

USC Trojans are all set to face the Washington Huskies in the second round of the 2025-26 NCAA Big Ten Tournament, with both sides vying to qualify for the subsequent rounds in the hope of clinching the title.

The Southern California-based program has so far garnered a total of 18 wins and 13 losses overall, with a Big Ten conference record of 7-13, becoming the 12th seed in the conference.

One of USC’s biggest positives this season is its standout guard Alijah Arenas, who’s enjoying a stellar run with the Trojans. So far this season, Arenas has been averaging an impressive 14.8 points while also boasting 2.8 rebounds and 1.9 assists per game.

Despite his side’s recent string of losses, Alijah has managed to return with 20 and 19 points in his last two games, respectively, further evidencing his red-hot form.
