In a recent NBA mock draft by the Pro Football Sports Network, North Carolina’s Caleb Wilson has been predicted to end up with the Brooklyn Nets. Wilson, who just spent his first and only season of college basketball at Chapel Hill with the Tar Heels, is predicted to be a top-four pick in the upcoming NBA draft this month.
In his sole season in the ACC, despite injuries preventing him from playing any role in the NCAA Tournament, he showed himself to be a player with a significant ceiling. Wilson was a Consensus All-American and made the ACC All-Rookie Team and First Team All-ACC.
At a slender 6’10”, Caleb Wilson has the physique, mobility, and ability that NBA teams are looking for in modern forwards. He has the potential to become a very competent two-way basketball player. Something important in his case is that he doesn’t only have room to improve the technical aspects of his game, but that there’s literal room to improve, as at only 215 pounds, he’s far from his top physique. Expect to see him increase in size as he joins the NBA, be it with the Brooklyn Nets or anyone else.
In 2026, he averaged 19.8 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game, while keeping a field goal percentage of 57.8%.
Caleb Wilson is clear on whom he’s role model should be as he moves into the NBA
Speaking with the press recently, Wilson showed that he’s ambitious but not delusional. It would be easy for a prospect to come into the NBA and say he expects to emulate the greatest of all time. Wilson isn’t thinking this way, but he isn’t setting his sights low either. Here’s who he said he thinks he can model his career after:
“I feel like I’m kind of similar to Kawhi Leonard,” Wilson said. “I feel like I’m a two-way player. I impact winning in so many different ways that you could use me and plug me into any type of team.”
Leonard is a two-time NBA champion and Finals MVP. Sure, saying that you want to emulate a seven-time NBA All-Star and generational talent is ambitious, but he isn’t saying that he’s looking to equal LeBron James or Larry Bird either.
The building blocks for a great career are there. Will the Brooklyn Nets see it?
