Head coach Danny Hurley and the UConn Huskies might have themselves a future superstar set to join them in McDonald’s All-American Braylon Mullins, who set an incredible record earlier this week.

    Braylon Mullins Makes History

The Indiana native made magic happen earlier this week for Greenfield-Central by becoming the school’s all-time leading scorer. His 26 points ended up helping him notch his 2,065th career point, which is ridiculous.

After he set the record, a cool moment was captured between him and his teammates.

It was all hugs and smiles for the future UConn stud, and that should excite Coach Hurley, who has proven over his tenure that he can coach championship teams and grow NBA talent. Mullins is surely looking to have both a great career in college and in the pros, so he is going to a great place in Stoors.

And if this season is any indication, the Huskies need his help.

    UConn Is Underperforming

This season, Danny Hurley’s team has not performed as well as he or the fan base would like. After coming off of back-to-back national titles, the Huskies are currently unranked.

They are 19-9 overall and are 11-6 in Big East play, which is not that bad at all when you consider the fact that they will be going to the NCAA Tournament.

However, they have not played up to the standard that has been set under Hurley and Co. for years. The team has had bad losses to teams like Seton Hall and Colorado, but they do have a chance to find their footing before the Big East Tournament and the NCAA Tournament.

Bringing in a player like Mullins will help this team sure up any issues that it has on the wings. A 47% shooter from three-point range, the 6’5″ Mullins will be able to add another layer to the offense when he joins up next season.

For now, he should enjoy his time as one of the best high school players in the nation.

When the time comes, he could be considered one of the best college players when it is all said and done in Stoors.

Mullins’ Skill Set Could Elevate UConn’s Future

Mullins isn’t just a scorer — he’s an all-around offensive weapon who brings versatility and efficiency to the court. His ability to stretch the floor with a 47% three-point shooting percentage makes him a perfect fit for UConn’s system, which thrives on spacing and perimeter play. His quick release and off-ball movement will add a new dynamic to the Huskies’ offense.

Beyond his shooting, Mullins has shown flashes of elite playmaking and defensive ability. His length at 6’5” allows him to guard multiple positions, which will be a huge asset for a UConn team that has struggled with consistency on the defensive end this season. Pairing him with Hurley’s defensive schemes could unlock even more potential.

UConn has a history of developing NBA talent, and Mullins has all the tools to be the next in line. Players like Jordan Hawkins and James Bouknight thrived under Hurley’s coaching before making the leap to the league. If Mullins continues on his trajectory, he could follow in their footsteps and cement himself as a premier collegiate talent.

For now, Mullins will look to close out his high school career on a high note. But once he arrives in Storrs, expect him to make an immediate impact. With his scoring ability and well-rounded game, he could be the missing piece to help UConn return to championship contention.
