Travis Steele Salary: How Much Does Miami Redhawks HC Earn?

Travis Steele recently signed a significant contract extension with Miami University. This new agreement keeps him as the head coach of the RedHawks through the 2031-32 season. The extension features a tiered salary structure that increases over the length of the deal.

Through 2026, his annual base salary is set at $300,000. This figure will rise to $400,000 per year for the period between 2026 and 2030. In the final two years of the extension, from 2030 through 2032, his yearly compensation increases to $500,000.

Beyond the base pay, the agreement includes incentives tied to team performance. Steele is eligible for various retention bonuses that could total up to $1 million. He also earns extra compensation for specific milestones, such as 20-win seasons or winning conference championships.

These bonuses are calculated as percentages of his base salary, ranging from approximately 4% to over 16%.

The contract is notably coach-friendly regarding its buyout terms and security. If the university terminates the contract without cause, it is responsible for paying out the remainder of the deal. If Steele chooses to leave for another position, his buyout remains relatively low at $150,000.
