New York Knicks fans had a night to remember as their team launched a stunning comeback to beat the San Antonio Spurs in game 4 of the NBA Finals, with many calling it the most incredible comeback in NBA Playoff history. After the game, a moment between Knicks’ Josh Hart and his former boss Jay Wright is now doing the rounds.
The NBA’s official social media handle posted an emotional moment between Josh Hart and Jay Wright, where the duo could be seen embracing after the Knicks victory and reminiscing the days when they worked together.
Between 2001 and 2022, Jay Wright was Mr. Villanova, leading the team to six Big East Conference Championship titles and 16 NCAA Tournament appearances, and had some exciting players to choose from over the years.
Among them were Knicks duo Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart, both of whom have been instrumental this season for the New York franchise, and the emotional moment between Jay Wright and Hart has now drawn the attention of the world.
“Jay Wright at Villanova made champions! He is a man and coach who turned young men into exceptional men and hardworking, basketball players who were ready for NBA challenges. So wonderful to see the love that his Villanova players have for him still! I’m a diehard Sixers fan!,” a fan commented.
“I admire Coach Wright. He developed players unlike the used car salesman over on the sidelines trying once again to seem relevant,” another commented.
“This is memorable,” a fan simply said.
“From Villanova to the Finals,” another noted.
“That’s a great moment—college coach and former player still sharing the journey at the biggest stage. Knicks are just one win away from the title now,” a fan said.
Josh Hart’s Rich History at Villanova
Josh Hart and Jay Wright scripted history together at Villanova, winning the NCAA Tournament in the year 2016, with Hart playing a pivotal role in the national championship game as well as throughout the tournament.
Josh Hart also won the Big East player of the year award in 2017, before jetting off to the NBA draft where he was selected in the first round by the Los Angeles Lakers. For his immense contributions to Villanova, Hart’s jersey was retired by the team. Despite his success since, it’s clear Hart never really forgot his roots.
