The Arkansas Razorbacks are entering conference play after one of their best regular seasons in recent years. The Razorbacks are set to face the Oklahoma Sooners in an SEC Tournament matchup at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.
Arkansas has had a good season so far, going 13-5 in the conference and 23-8 overall. This is a major upgrade from their last two seasons, in which they stayed in the bottom half of the conference chart.
The Oklahoma Sooners have also improved, but they’re far from realizing their full potential. They went on a six-game winning streak and are currently 19-14 overall and 7-11 in the conference.
The Sooners have played two SEC Tournament games so far, winning 86-74 against South Carolina and 83-63 against Texas A&M.
Both teams are largely unaffected by injuries and have healthy rosters ready to go tonight. Oklahoma guard Dayton Forsythe is the only player mentioned on the team’s injury report. He is listed as ‘Probable’ due to an undisclosed reason.
The Razorbacks also have just one player on the injury report. Forward Karter Knox is listed as ‘Questionable’ due to an undisclosed reason for the SEC matchup. Both players came off the bench in their respective last matchups.
With their key starters intact and the two listed players likely to be game-time decisions, the Sooners and the Razorbacks are set to battle it out at full strength.
Arkansas Head Coach is Anxious
Arkansas Razorbacks head coach John Calipari has been working with the team since 2024. He has prepared his team for the biggest of challenges, which was evident during their regular-season run.
However, now that the Razorbacks are entering conference play, Calipari is feeling anxious. He still has confidence in his team, but the pressure in the games that they’ll play now will be higher than they’ve experienced over the last few months.
“I’m anxious to see,” he said. “But this is what it all comes down to. This time of year, this is what it comes down to — in this tournament or next tournament, it’s all the same. You’ve got to guard in case you’re not shooting the ball well.”
Calipari praised his team, saying they have the “fight, desire, and will to win, and it’s going to come down to that.” He said that his job right now is to get the team together and push for the title.
