The NBA Draft Lottery is done and dusted and we now know that the Washington Wizards have been awarded the first pick at the upcoming NBA Draft.
But one key question still remains. Which college basketball star will the Washington Wizards pick and who really is the best coming out of the crop of talent?
The general consensus among fans and experts alike is that there are two main college basketball stars that the NBA GMs are looking at, namely AJ Dybantsa and Darryn Peterson. Both are coming off solid seasons for their college programs, with Dybantsa possibly having the edge due to consistent displays even if purely on an individual basis and not much to write home about when it comes to BYU as a team.
Darryn Peterson’s injury issues and question marks over commitment to Kansas were a big talking point towards the end of last season and it seems NBA GMs plan to take that into account as they make this big decision.
“I don’t they can take the risk with Peterson even though I think his upside is even higher than Dybantsa. I think Washington will go with Dybantsa because it’s a safer pick and they can’t afford to screw this up,” a GM reportedly told insider Jeff Goodman.
What Would AJ Dybantsa and Darryn Peterson Bring to the NBA?
Regardless of who ends up being the first overall pick at the NBA Draft, one thing is clear. The NBA is getting two extremely talented players. Darryn Peterson is extremely strong for his age, making him perfectly suited for the NBA, with strong scoring ability and defensive know-how.
AJ Dybantsa at 6’9″ feels like the finished article, combining speed with scoring ability and a rapid development of his passing game in a very short period of time.
