As a new coach arrives, a few players are expected to leave via the transfer portal, and that is what is happening to Syracuse right now as they will be losing their top passer Nait George.
He averaged 10.9 points and 5.4 assists per game for the Orange, which may be rebuilding once again this year after firing head coach Adrian Autry in March.
Autry heavily relied on Nait George to make plays, and with the coach’s exit, so does the point guard. He is still technically with the Orange but is expected to officially leave once the transfer portal opens on Tuesday and a team picks him up. This leads to the question of where will he go next?
5 Nait George Transfer Portal Landing Spots
Kentucky Wildcats
This season, Mark Pope only had one true point guard in his roster, Jaland Lowe. However, Lowe is also entering the transfer portal, which means that the Wildcats have no true point guards left aside from an incoming freshman commit.
While George would be competing for that spot, his experience at point guard could get him the nod should he choose to go to Lexington.
North Carolina Tar Heels
Should he want another blue-blood school, North Carolina may be what he is looking for. The Tar Heels are on a rebuild with a new coach and will probably lose more players as the transfer portal looms, so this could be the opportunity that Nait George needs, especially as this is one of the biggest programs in the country.
Kansas Jayhawks
The Jayhawks are losing key big man Flory Bidunga to the transfer portal and also freshman guard Darryn Peterson to the NBA draft. This means that this Blue Blood school is bleeding players and is need of a new infusion. The ACC’s leading passer may be able to help.
SMU Mustangs
This team came in with a ton of promise this year only to be one of the First Four out and eliminated before the NCAA Tournament even began. The team has some lethal bigs, but they have some good guards as well, and a true point guard like Nait George could surely help them improve.
Iowa State Cyclones
The Cyclones currently have Tamin Lipsey as their point guard, but he is now a senior and is expected to leave soon. This should leave the door open for a new starting point guard.
