Kentucky Wildcats coach Mark Pope isn’t having the greatest time as he wrestles with keeping the fans happy while preparing a squad for the new season.
His latest move was to bring in a player that many believe shouldn’t even be playing college basketball. However, injuries mean the player is likely to get another year at the collegiate level.
Franck Kepnang, who has committed to the Kentucky Wildcats despite being out of eligibility next season, needs multiple redshirt approvals to be eligible to play, but it seems Pope is willing to take the risk.
However, with Kentucky having missed out on several big-name recruits in a short period, including Tyran Stokes, fans are upset and have taken aim at Mark Pope.
“Kentucky Basketball has hit an all time low with these no name, retreads.”
“Pope does it again!!!”
“Kentucky down so bad man.”
Tough Times Ahead for Mark Pope and Kentucky Wildcats
The Kentucky program prides itself on giving talented young players the break they need to make a solid college career and develop further on in the NBA, but with signings like Franck Kepnang, it’s clear the program is getting a little desperate.
Mark Pope needs to rally his troops and make the most of what’s left in the transfer portal, or risk a bad start to the season, which could put his job in jeopardy.
