Kentucky Injury Update: HC Mark Pope Provides Major Insight on Kam Williams And Jayden Quaintance

Kentucky Wildcats coach Mark Pope recently gave an update on Kam Williams and Jayden Quaintance, and whether they will be ready for the 2026 postseason. On Thursday, March 5, @ukvideos on Instagram uploaded a carousel post that features clips from a recent episode of “The Mark Pope Show.”

In the said video, Pope revealed that both Williams and Quiantance are progressing well, and he is optimistic that they will recover in time for either the 2026 SEC tournament or this year’s NCAA tournament. Williams has been dealing with a broken foot since late January of this year, while Quiantance has been in and out of the lineup with a torn ACL.

“Kentucky is getting closer to the postseason, and Mark Pope shared encouraging injury updates on Kam Williams and Jayden Quaintance. Pope says Williams has started running and completed a skill workout with minimal pain as he works back from a broken foot. Meanwhile, Quaintance is also progressing, with Pope noting the swelling in his knee is ‘a little bit under control’ and that he completed strength testing Wednesday,” @ukvideos on Instagram captioned.

“Both still have steps to clear before returning, but Pope remains hopeful as the SEC Tournament and NCAA Tournament approach. ‘I always have a lot of optimism, so fingers crossed,’ 😼 #BBN,” the post continued.

Pope and his Kentucky-based program are focused on preparing for their final game of the 2025-26 regular season on Saturday, March 7, against the defending national champions, coach Todd Golden’s Florida Gators, on their home floor, the Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky. They possess a current overall record of 19-11 (10-7 SEC), good for the No. 5 seed in the 2026 SEC standings.

Mark Pope Confirms That Kam Williams And Jayden Quiantance Did Different Tests During Their Progress

On the same podcast, Mark Pope revealed what exactly Kam Williams and Jayden Quiantance did for their respective injury recoveries.

According to Pope, Williams did a bit of running, while Jayden Quiantance tested his lower body strength.

“ Yeah, positive news on both those guys. Right now, Kam is actually doing a little bit of running. Yesterday, he had a solid skill workout; today, he is having minimal pain. Hasn’t done anything at full speed, but he’s making progress, and JQ is also making some progress. I feel like we’ve got the swelling a little bit under control, and he actually did strength testing today. He’s got a much more intensive ramp-up before we can step on the court. But, good news from both those guys,” Pope detailed.
