Following his fifth-year senior season with the Xavier Musketeers, forward John Hugley IV is on the move, committing to join the Duquesne Dukes. This will be his fourth program in six years.

Hugley was a four-star prospect out of Cleveland, Ohio, and he committed to Pitt. He had a productive three seasons with the Panthers.

His best season was 2021-22, in which the 6-foot-11, 270-pound forward averaged 14.8 points per game and grabbed 7.9 rebounds per game. He started 31 of 32 games and was a major contributor for the Panthers.

From there, he joined the Oklahoma Sooners ahead of the 2023-24 season. He had a solid season with the Sooners, averaging 8.4 points per game in 17.6 minutes per game as a key player off the bench.

Following his lone season in Norman, he decided to transfer once again to join the Musketeers for his fifth season of college hoops.

After seeing minutes early in the season, Hugley quickly fell out of the rotation. On the season, he finished with averages of 2.9 points per game and 2.0 rebounds per game in only 10.0 minutes per game of action.

Now, with one season of eligibility left, Hugley is choosing to spend his final season at Duquesne of the A-10.

After achieving an NCAA Tournament berth and first-round victory in 2024, the Dukes fell back to earth in 2025, losing their first six games of the season and winning only 13 games versus 19 losses.

Their top six scorers were all guards, making it a major need to add a big man through the portal for head coach Dru Joyce III.

They add Hugley, who will be a physical presence down low. If he regains the touch he had during his sophomore season, he could easily be one of the top players in the conference.

If not, he’ll still be one of the biggest, strongest, big-men in the A-10 with the ability to play solid defense and rebound.
