The Kansas Jayhawks are all set to face the St. John’s Red Storm in their second-round game of the 2026 March Madness this evening at the Viejas Arena in San Diego.
The Jayhawks have had a pretty sweet journey all through the regular and postseason games so far. Having finished third in the Big 12 conference with an overall record of 24-10 and a conference record of 12-6, a major chunk of their success this campaign could be attributed to their breakout freshman guard Darryn Peterson’s stellar output so far. Averaging a prolific 20.1 points per game along with 4.2 rebounds and 1.7 assists, Peterson’s rise has been the talk of the season so far.
However, injuries combined with some troubles with his unwillingness to remain on court for prolonged periods of time have hampered his playing time. So far this season, Peterson has only featured for his side in 23 games, as compared to his peers, who have appeared in over 33 to 34 games consistently this season.
With improved on-court minutes and no reported injuries, Darryn Peterson is all set to take the center stage once again as the Jayhawks eye a Sweet Sixteen berth. He also played for a total of 37 minutes in his side’s first-round win over the California Baptist Lancers, dropping a stellar 28-point performance.

Meanwhile, guards Corbin Allen and Will Thengvall are also listed as questionable after picking up unknown knocks earlier this March.
Meanwhile, the St. John’s Red Storm have no recent injuries on their roster. The only two players unavailable from their team are forward Imran Suljanovic and guard Casper Pohto, who have been out of the scheme of things since October and December last year, respectively.
