Florida Gators forward Alex Condon has given the college basketball world an update on his future in the sport.
On Wednesday, Condon announced through his own social media accounts that he will be playing out his senior year of college with coach Todd Golden‘s Gators in the 2026-27 season.
This means that Condon will be skipping the 2026 NBA Draft, putting to rest speculations about the big man leaving his program. Last year, Condon had a similar situation in the 2025 offseason, wherein he entered his name into the NBA Draft, but maintained his college hoops eligibility. Now, it seems as though he will stay put with the Gators for what might be his final campaign with them.
“BREAKING: Florida star forward Alex Condon will return for his senior season, per @shams. The 6’11 junior averaged 15.7 PPG, 7.5 RPG, 3.6 APG, and 1.4 BPG. HUGE for Todd Golden and the Gators,” @recruitsnews on Instagram captioned.
Condon is coming off his third year of collegiate hoops. He has played all three years under the tutelage of coach Golden and his Florida-based program. The Perth, Australia, native’s best run with the team came in the 2024-25 campaign, where they won the national championship. In their NCAA title defense in the 2025-26 season, they were eliminated in the second round through a 73-72 loss to the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Alex Condon Previously Said That The 2026 NCAA Tournament Loss May Be A Factor In His Decision
In a video uploaded by college basketball reporter Daren Stoltzfus on X/Twitter, Alex Condon’s post-game interview following his team’s loss in this year’s NCAA tournament has surfaced.
As mentioned, Condon and the rest of the Florida Gators were eliminated in the second round of the 2026 March Madness. Condon was asked if the loss will be a factor in his decision, and he confirmed that it might.
“ I’m not really thinking about that right now, just for my future. I’m just trying to stay in the moment and, you know, consult with, consult all the boys that put so much time and effort into this team,” Condon said. “Yeah, probably influence a little bit. No comment. I don’t know what I’m doing.”
