Tyran Stokes has delayed his college commitment for over a month now. He had announced his final three – Bill Self’s Kansas, Mark Pope’s Kentucky and Dana Altman’s Oregon – weeks ago in an Instagram post. However, reports suggest he has dismissed both Kansas and Oregon.
However, his most recent social media activity seemingly hinted that all three finalists are back in the running. The latest update suggested that he is ready to make his commitment announcement as soon as 3:30 p.m. ET on ESPN’s NBA Today.
However, only in an hour or so, there were reports of another slight delay. Now, Tyran Stokes will reportedly announce his commitment at 6:30 p.m. on Inside the NBA on ESPN with Shaq, Charles, Kenny and Ernie.
Fans, however, weren’t too pleased with another delay. Mark Pope also faced some backlash along with it.
“Today will determine if pope will get fired after this season,” one fan said.
“So today will be the start of the end for pope then,” another claimed.
“Expect 6 more schools to get involved by tonight & the decision to get pushed back to the summer,” one fan said sarcastically.
“He will end up pushing it back again. Kid is a massive attention getter,” another stated.
“Great just more fuel to be added to make us look like even bigger fools,” one fan commented.
“This is hilarious. But I like him committing with those guys,” one fan said.
Why is Tyran Stokes Reportedly Inclined Toward Kentucky?
Tyran Stokes seemingly had a problem with Adidas. And with Kansas being an Adidas school, he left it out of his finalists. Stokes visited Kentucky the longest and Mark Pope laid out all his cards.
There were even reports that Pope is ready to throw whatever money it takes to bring Stokes home. Pope even tried hire Stokes’ ex-high school coach and former NBA star Jamal Crawford.
