Meleek Thomas was one of the top names still involved in the NBA Draft as of the withdrawal deadline, and it appears he has made a decision regarding his future.
Reports suggest that Thomas is staying put in the NBA Draft and won’t be returning to the Arkansas Razorbacks this season following a successful campaign last time out.
Thomas was instrumental in the Razorbacks’ season, and even ended up with the SEC Freshman of the Week in the final week of the regular season, so it’ll be a bit of a setback for John Calipari and company. And with the pedigree he has, Thomas was clearly advised to stick around in the NBA Draft, where he’s predicted to be a late first round pick if you believe in the mock drafts.
Fans took to X to talk about his decision that appeared to have been decided a while back but is now one for all to witness.
“Thanks for being a hog Meleek! Best of luck,” one fan commented.
“Would’ve been great if we didn’t have to stay up til midnight waiting for an answer but best of luck to Meleek,” another said.
“Enjoy China bubba,” a cynical fan commented.
“Hahaha here’s the cal experience Arky fans!,” a fan remarked.
“Go be great Leek,” another fan wished.
Big Challenges Remain for Meleek Thomas
Announcing his continuation in the NBA Draft is just the beginning for Meleek Thomas as most of the hard work is yet to come.
As NBA teams jockey for position, there’s no guarantee he’ll get to play in a team that he wants to play in or that in his first season he’ll play at all, so it’s a roll of the dice that must have been well thought through.
The likes of Darryn Peterson, AJ Dybantsa and Cameron Boozer remain the top choices in the Draft, but it will be interesting to see what the future holds for the talented Thomas.
