Mark Pope has been desperately trying to find the kind of high profile star that would give him enough credit in the bank with Kentucky fans to replace the loss of missing Tyran Stokes.
The Wildcats believed they were the frontrunners to get Stokes out of high school, but the highest rated player in the 2026 recruiting class chose to go to Kansas instead, leaving Pope red faced.
Now, with all that money lying around, and a desperation to find a top name, it appears Pope might have the player he needs, should things go his way, and fans seem to agree.
Milan Momcilovic is yet to make a decision regarding whether he enters the NBA Draft or stays in college, potentially being picked up in the transfer portal by Kentucky or a few others, but with a very heavy monetary bonus coming his way.
Because CBS Sports’ Isaac Trotter believes an eye-watering $6 Million may be needed to lure the big man back to college, and fans are on the same page.
What Options Does Momcilovic Have?
As things stand, Momcilovic is unlikely to be a guaranteed early pick in the NBA Draft. With the level of uncertainty that comes with that space, in the NIL world it makes sense for players with eligibility to head back to college and give it their all for another year and try again next time around.
Despite Momcilovic’s desire to be in the NBA, it seems likely he’ll head back to college and get picked up by either Kentucky or Louisville, both of whom seem to have deep pockets to pay him the $6 Million being reported.
Either way, it’s a big decision, and one that Mark Pope will hope can get him a top star in time for the new campaign.
