Leyron Blyden Jr. is on his way out of Toledo. The MAC Freshman of the Year has entered the transfer portal after averaging 16.5 points and 4.3 assists per game this season. He shot 40% from the 3-point line.
Blyden Jr. is expected to generate significant interest among top college basketball programs. The guard is from Detroit and measures 6-foot-1 with 175 pounds in weight.
After Brandon Grier and Rob Murphy of Equity Sports told DraftExpress about the transfer portal news, fans reacted, sharing their potential landing spots.
“KENTUCKY PLEASE I DONT ASK FOR MUCH,” one fan wrote.
“Michigan yup!” another fan added.
“Future Bryan Hodgson guard,” one fan reacted.
“He will have everyone showinng interest just watch and see he really like that,” one fan predicted.
“Would love to see in an Ohio State uniform,” one fan wrote.
“I thought he said he was staying,” one fan commented.
“Toledo – football and basketball players have to have some taint around them with all of the gambling allegations on that campus and around their Athletics. May be an absolute saint – I wouldnt want him anywhere near my team,” one fan added.
Leroy Blyden Jr. Once Said About Returning to Toledo
Earlier this month, after Toledo lost the MAC Championship to Akron 79-76, Leroy Blyden Jr. committed to return to the program for next season. At the time, he told reporters:
“Will come back here to Toledo, you know, and win a MAC, different outcome than what we had tonight.”
It appears that between now and then, Blyden Jr. has had a change of heart.
In the MAC Championship game against Akron, the Rockets’ freshman had 21 points, six rebounds, six assists, one block and four steals. On the season, Blyden Jr. averaged 16.4 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game in 34 games played. He has been an excellent shooter, making 46.1% field goals, including 40.7% from the three-point line.
It remains to be seen where Blyden Jr. will go after entering the transfer portal.
