Malachi Moreno has a tough decision on his hands as he picks between continuing at the University of Kentucky for another season or try his luck at the NBA Draft this year.
If you ask Kentucky fans, the decision seems clear. Moreno is an integral part of the Wildcats’ charge and the 2025 four-star recruit will once again be one of the main men for Mark Pope should he decide to continue in Lexington.
But the temptation of landing an early NBA spot is very much alive, and it was apparent after a recent cryptic social media post by Moreno.
In response to the post, local ESPN hosts have been giving their opinion on what Moreno actually meant with the “rolling eyes” emoji.
“My opinion of that is he’s [Malachi Moreno] riling up the fan base,” Brake said on Moreno’s post, which has created some significant buzz on social media .
“But I think it’s for a good thing, he wouldn’t put that out if he was going to the draft,” he went on.
Where is Moreno Finally Headed?
While only Malachi Moreno himself knows where his future lies, it appears that he would likely be in a better spot continuing his time in Kentucky.
Mark Pope has been unable to get in too many big name stars in the transfer portal, making a player like Moreno extremely important to the team’s chances this season.
The NBA Draft is notoriously difficult to negotiate if you aren’t a guaranteed early pick, which we can be sure Moreno won’t be, especially with top stars such as Darryn Peterson, AJ Dybantsa and Cameron Boozer dominating the early picks, so Moreno should consider sticking put in Lexington.
