After a breakout performance against UConn in the national championship game, Michigan Wolverines point guard Elliot Cadeau was named the Most Outstanding Player. Before this, he was largely seen as a player who would return to Michigan for his senior year after potentially going undrafted. However, his performance in the NCAA Tournament has changed many minds, and he could be a draft prospect.
Cadeau averaged 10.5 points, 2.7 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game on 41.1% shooting. He largely stayed out of the spotlight, but winning the MOP could change the trajectory of his career. Right now, he is projected to go in the second round, so where could he end up?
Top 3 Potential Landing Spots for Michigan guard Elliot Cadeau
#1 Phoenix Suns
Since they let Chris Paul go, the Suns have struggled without a true point guard to run the offense. They need a long-term solution, and Elliot Cadeau may be what they are looking for. He could be developed into a playmaker with the ability to take shots should he catch defenders sleeping.
#2 Denver Nuggets
While Jamal Murray, an All-Star, is their starting point guard, the Nuggets may dip into the second round for to find his backup, as they do not have a true point guard who could replace him.
This is where the newly minted NCAA champion could come in, as he has a very good assist-to-turnover ratio and passing percentage. He could thrive in Denver, setting up Nikola Jokic and his teammates to score.
#3 Milwaukee Bucks
Ryan Rollins and AJ Green are currently serving as the point guards for the Bucks, but they are not the biggest names and a third option would be enticing.
As Elliot Cadeau is projected to be a second-round draft pick, he could be the diamond in the rough that they are looking for. The Bucks would hope he could develop into a pass-first type of guard capable of consistently picking out Giannis or other teammates.
