Elliot Cadeau’s Family: Who Are the Michigan Star’s Parents and Siblings?

Elliot Cadeau was one of the top prospects in the class of 2023, and a great recruiting coup for the North Carolina Tar Heels at the time. However, after two seasons at Chapel Hill, Cadeau decided to move from the South to the Midwest, where he currently plays for the Michigan Wolverines.

The former five-star recruit is the son of an international couple. His father, James Cadeau, is from Haiti. While he didn’t play basketball professionally, reports say he was an avid amateur tennis player, which instilled in Elliot an interest in sports.

His mother, Michelle Cadeau, is Swedish, hailing from Skåne. While she herself hasn’t played sports in any meaningful manner, she is a huge advocate for her son’s athletic career. She’s even credited with steering him into college basketball over college football.

As a kid, Cadeau played flag football and wanted to be a tackle. His mother discouraged him from pursuing football as a competitive sport.

He also has an older brother, Justin Cadeau, who was a tennis player at Howard University.

Elliot Cadeau’s Mom on Why Her Son Made the Move to Michigan

At the time of Elliot Cadeu’s decision to move from North Carolina to Michigan, his mother wrote the following post on Facebook to explain the reason behind the decision.

According to her, the entire family loved their time at Chapel Hill, but athletic decisions overrode those feelings.

“We have loved being at UNC, loved the team, loved the friends we have met, loved all the fans who has cheered him (and me) on,” Michelle Cadeau posted to Facebook. “This was his dream and he gave it everything he had for two years. I’m proud of him making a choice he felt he had to do to get to where he wants to be.”

    She added:

“It was not easy — because we never had in our plans to transfer but he felt this was what was needed. We are now so excited for the summer, the work, and the upcoming season. Michigan, we can’t wait to meet you!!! GO BLUE!!!”

Some fans pointed out in the comments that her son was asking for a $2 million NIL deal from the Tar Heels and that he left because his wish wasn’t granted. Michelle Cadeau denied any such claims.
