Arizona Wildcats forward Koa Peat is going to miss at least a couple of his team’s games due to the injury he suffered in their recent regular-season game. On Saturday, Feb. 14, Peat and the rest of coach Tommy Lloyd‘s Wildcats lost 78-75 to coach Grant McCasland’s Texas Tech Red Raiders on the former’s home court, the McKale Memorial Center in Tucson, Arizona.
Unfortunately for the Arizona home crowd, Peat was able to log in only 11 minutes in the highly contested affair, as he went down with a lower leg injury that eventually forced him to miss the remainder of the game. After the matchup, reports revealed that Peat suffered a muscle strain in his lower leg and is due for a re-evaluation next week.
As Peat now begins his injury recovery process and awaits further assessment, collegiate hoops reporter Jason Scheer pointed out the marquee games the freshman is set to miss. Scheer posted on his X/Twitter account that Peat will powerhouse Big 12 conference matchups against Kevin Young’s BYU Cougars and Kelvin Sampson’s Houston Cougars.
With this, the Arizona-based program will test its luck in the hopes of winning against formidable foes without Peat, who can play only once he is cleared to return to the court by the team’s medical staff. The Wildcats lost an overtime thriller on their home court to the Red Raiders by three points, 78-75.
“We’re Gonna Figure it Out” – Tommy Lloyd Unsure Of Koa Peat’s Injury
At the press conference after the Arizona Wildcats-Texas Tech Red Raiders matchup, coach Tommy Lloyd was asked about Koa Peat’s injury.
Lloyd did not know the extent of Peat’s injury, but placed his trust in his personnel.
“We’re gonna figure it out. It’s a lower leg deal. I know [trainer Justin Kokoskie] and the doctors are on it and I’m sure they’ll do some testing and we’ll figure out where it’s at. But I don’t have anything other than that,” Lloyd was quoted as saying.
