“Duke Still Afraid”: Fans Trash Jon Scheyer’s Team As Dan Hurley’s UConn Set for a Match Up vs Blue Devils

Duke and UConn have been two of the most decorated programs in the history of college basketball. Dan Hurley has proved himself to be one of the greatest in history. With back-to-back national championships and three NCAA title games in four years, Hurley is certainly up there with the best modern coaches and might just end up being one of the greatest coaches in history.

Jon Scheyer, on the other hand, took the reins over from Duke legend Mike Krzyzewski, who took the Blue Devils to new heights. Scheyer has done a decent job since his appointment. However, he has yet to play an NCAA title game.

As for the head-to-head record, Duke has the advantage. However, their last meeting was a heartbreaking loss for Scheyer’s Cameron Boozer-led team. According to reports, Duke and UConn are set to meet next season in Las Vegas on Thanksgiving Eve. Keeping last season’s Elite Eight loss in mind, fans online did not spare Jon Scheyer’s Duke.

“Duke is still afraid of a home and home with real competition. Let’s see Duke play at KU, UK, etc. They won’t do it unless its part of some ACC challenge,” one fan said.

“Feels so stupid that this game is in Vegas,” another commented.

“Duke wants to be stuffed on Thanksgiving? Crazy,” one UNC fan mocked.

“Duke still scared of a home and home. Cute,” one fan stated.

“Such a Duke move to win a game that means nothing,” another claimed.

“This should be at MSG. What a horrendous venue,” another fan thought.

Revisiting UConn’s miraculous Elite Eight win vs Duke

Duke had two of the most impressive players in their ranks for the last two seasons, Cooper Flagg and Cameron Boozer. However, both seasons ended in disappointing fashion, as they could not even play the national championship final game, let alone win it.

For last season, Dan Hurley’s UConn stood in their way. UConn’s Braylon Mullins stole the win in the final second, as he hit a three-pointer from the logo. Duke looked like they were in the driving seat, but Dan Hurley’s UConn completed an inspired comeback.
