UConn Huskies head coach Dan Hurley took the program to the Final Four after a nail-biting finish against the Duke Blue Devils in Sunday’s Elite Eight matchup. Thanks to Braylon Mullins’ buzzer-beating 3-pointer, the Huskies registered a 73-72 win, completing a 19-point comeback.
During the game, there were several moments where Hurley’s expression and gesture were called into question. Anytime a call went against his team, he almost always appeared to be furious. One such clip showed Hurley intimidating the referee, almost head-butting him after a UConn turnover.
The said post has already received over 1.3 million impressions. Hurley hasn’t made any comments regarding this viral video yet.
Look into UConn HC Dan Hurley’s Iconic Elite Eight Win Celebration
The Elite Eight matchup was electrifying and easily one of the most exciting games in college basketball. Dan Hurley’s boys never gave up despite trailing by double digits for most of the game. The post-game celebration was as iconic as their comeback.
Interestingly, Hurley entered the locker room wearing nothing but a towel underneath. He knew that he was going to get showered with champagne and wanted to protect the precious suit that he had been wearing in the NCAA Tournament.
The boys didn’t wait long when Hurley made his way into the locker room after completing post-game formalities. They showered him, and he chimed in on the celebration. In his signature gesture, he threw the basketball strongly downwards to mark the iconic victory.
A couple of years ago, when Hurley’s UConn won the national championship after defeating Purdue, he did the same to protect his precious navy suit.
“I broke it back out last March,” Hurley said in 2024. “I think it’s at the dry cleaner. I’m going to wear that until somebody takes me out.”
It’s not only the suit; Hurley even wore the same damn dress shirt and his favorite red dragon underwear. He has five days to get them dry-cleaned so that he can wear them in the Final Four matchup against Illinois. The Huskies will be the favorite, having defeated them earlier in the season and having been on their way to winning the national title two seasons ago.
