“That Was the Pitch”: Braylon Mullins’ UConn Recruitment Included Stunning Indy Prophecy

Braylon Mullins etched his name in March Madness history with his game-winning shot against the Duke Blue Devils. Mullins’ three-pointer in the final seconds of the Elite Eight matchup has sent UConn to the Final Four.

Mullins joined the Huskies in 2025. In his freshman season, he is averaging 12 points, 3.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists, and 1 steal per game. But the stats don’t do justice to what he did for the Huskies tonight against Duke.

Mullins grew up in Greenfield, Indiana, and attended Greenfield-Central High School. He was a consensus top-25 prospect in the 2025 recruiting class. After his clutch performance tonight, Mullins revealed that Indianapolis was part of his recruitment to UConn.

He was told that he would go to Indianapolis in his first season with UConn. The Final Four matchup will take place at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis. The UConn Huskies have delivered on that promise, and Mullins played a huge role in making the upcoming trip to Indianapolis a reality.

“When I was recruited, that was the pitch, ‘We’re gonna take you to Indy.’ And that was kind of a wrap-up moment for my official visit when I took a visit to UConn. So, in a way, I always knew in the back of my head,” he said.

UConn wouldn’t have qualified for the Final Four if Mullins hadn’t hit the only three-pointer tonight. With 10 seconds left in the game and Duke in possession of the ball, Mullins stole the ball from Cayden Boozer.

He passed the ball to Alex Karaban, who gave it back to Mullins as he had an open look. Mullins shot the ball from 35 feet and made the only three-pointer on five total attempts. But it was the one that meant the most as it secured a 73-72 win for UConn over Duke.

Braylon Mullins is Excited for the Challenges Ahead

Mullins said that this has been the best basketball experience of his life. He said that it’s the best team that he’s ever been a part of, and he’s really excited for the week ahead, where the Huskies will have a shot at the title.

“This is easily the best team that I’ve been a part of,” he said. “I can’t wait to do another week with these guys again.”

Mullins was very impressed by how the UConn recruitment team predicted the season they’re having right now.
