Cincinnati Basketball Transfer Portal: Jerrod Calhoun Lands 11th Addition With Former 4-Star Guard

Cincinnati men’s basketball has added another key player to their roster. It’s Georgia Tech’s guard Akai Fleming, who joins the program right after having a strong season, with a career high of 20 points.

The 6-foot-4 freshman under Jerrod Calhoun becomes Cincinnati’s 11th portal addition in the 2026 cycle. He averaged 10.4 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game in the last season.

He was also highly regarded four-star prospect and was ranked as a top 100 recruit in the 2025 high school class, which shows he has potential to become one of the top players in the country.

He is a versatile player who can adapt to different play styles as per the situation. And defensively, he brings a competitive edge to the team which is something the coach has focused on since taking over

What Akai Fleming Commitment Mean for Cincinnati

Jerrod Calhoun joined as the 29th head coach of Cincinnati basketball team on March 24, 2026. Prior to this he used to coach at Utah State, where he completed the season with a record of 29-7 and made it to March Madness.

Since his arrival he has completely shifted the program’s structure, making the team a strong contender heading into the 2026-27 season. With this latest addition he has strengthened the team further.

His strategy seems clear: stack the roster with athletic, versatile players and eliminate the competition from the game.

Fleming projects as a strong guard who can grow into a larger role at Cincinnati. He joins other elite players such as Tyler Tejada, Riley Allenspach, Myles Colvin, and more.

With multiple additions already in place, Cincinnati could roll out lineups filled with size, shooting potential, and stronger defense.

With 11 portal additions now locked in, Cincinnati’s roster overhaul is near completion. Whether with this team Calhoun makes it to the top of the ladder, only time will tell.
