Former Alabama Crimson Tide center Charles Bediako is not giving up on his college basketball dreams. According to recent reports, he is attempting to make another return to the sport and his program. On Tuesday, Feb. 24, @On3NIL on X/Twitter shared an update on its previous report on Bediako, which mentioned the denial of his request for an injunction pending appeal.
After he was denied by Judge Daniel Pruet, @On3NIL on X/Twitter reported that Bediako has again filed an emergency motion with the Supreme Court of the state of Alabama in the hopes of being granted an interim injunction against the NCAA. This is seen in the court records, as it may very well be his last-ditch effort to make a comeback in the 2025-26 collegiate hoops campaign.
On Feb. 10, Bediako was stripped of his eligibility to continue playing in the current season after just five games. He was not granted a preliminary injunction by the NCAA. After this, the former NBA G League player filed an appeal directly to the Alabama Supreme Court about his eligibility denial.
The collegiate hoops world, which has been critical of Bediako, given that he already has professional playing experience, now awaits a verdict on his emergency motion to the Supreme Court of Alabama. For now, he watches on as coach Nate Oats‘ Crimson Tide currently have an overall record of 20-7 (10-4 SEC) and look to maintain their No. 2 seed ranking in the 2026 SEC standings.
Charles Bediako’s Impact Was Deemed Not Much By The NCAA Selection Committee
In the same report by college basketball writer Nick Schultz on On3, NCAA Tournament selection committee chair Keith Gill was quoted from a recent guest interview on a CBS show.
In the interview, Gill was asked what the committee’s thoughts on Bediako were. According to Gill, as they looked at the bigger picture, Bediako did not have much of an impact on his program and college basketball.
“We certainly talked about it a lot. They were 3-2 with Bediako, 16-5 without him. We didn’t necessarily apply, like, a material change to that just because it seemed like it wasn’t as impactful as maybe some of the other injuries may or may not be,” Gill was quoted as saying.
