Carlos Boozer, the father of Duke guard Cameron Boozer, made headlines on Friday when the top-seeded Blue Devils beat No. 5 St. John’s 80-75 in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament. Carlos was spotted enthusiastically waving goodbye to St. John’s fans at the Capital One Arena in Washington in the final seconds of the contest.
When Duke suffered a 73-72 loss to No. 2 seed UConn via a buzzer-beater in the Elite Eight two days later, the video clip of Boozer mocking Red Storm fans resurfaced on X. The original video had been viewed more than 660,000 times.
Cameron Boozer posted a game-high 27 points, along with eight rebounds and four assists, against the Huskies. His twin brother, Cayden, contributed 15 points, five rebounds and six assists.
UConn center Tarris Reed Jr. recorded 26 points, nine rebounds and three assists. Huskies guard Silas Demary posted 11 points, five rebounds and two assists.
UConn will face No. 3 seed Illinois in the Final Four on Saturday.
Carlos Boozer Played in The NBA for 13 Seasons
Carlos Boozer played for Duke from 1999 to 2002. He helped the Blue Devils win the national championship in 2001.
The Cleveland Cavaliers took Carlos in the second round of the 2002 NBA draft. He hit the ground running and was named to the NBA All-Rookie Second Team.
Boozer played 13 seasons in the NBA. He spent two seasons with the Cavaliers, six seasons with the Utah Jazz, four seasons with the Chicago Bulls and one season with the LA Lakers.
Boozer earned two All-Star honors during his career in the NBA. He averaged 16.2 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game through his time in the pro league.
