KJ Lewis Transfer Portal: Top 5 Teams That Should Target the Georgetown Guard

KJ Lewis plans to enter the transfer portal after one season at Georgetown, according to reports from On3. He began his collegiate career at Arizona in 2023 and played two seasons with the Wildcats.

Lewis led the Hoyas in scoring, averaging 14.9 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 2.1 steals per game in his only season with the program. However, the  6-foot-4 junior guard suffered an ankle injury in February against Marquette, which ruled him out for the rest of the season.

Since Lewis has three years of experience at the collegiate level, we’ve listed some teams that should target the Georgetown guard in the transfer portal.

5 Teams That Should Target KJ Lewis as Georgetown Guard Enters Transfer Portal

    #1. Houston

Houston is a No. 2 seed team in this year’s NCAA Tournament, and the program is regarded as one of the favorites to win the national title. The Cougars made it to the national championship game last year, but lost to Florida.

Although KJ Lewis cannot join Houston for this year’s March Madness run, he could be an excellent addition to the team next season. The Cougars are being recognized as one of the top programs, and Lewis can potentially help them win a championship next season.

    #2. Baylor

Baylor did not make the NCAA Tournament this season. However, the Bears will be aiming to qualify for March Madness next season by building their roster in the offseason.

Lewis is a player that Baylor can target in the transfer portal. The Bears play in the Big East, and the competition in the conference could bring out the best in the Georgetown guard.

    #3. Syracuse

Syracuse hired Gerry McNamara as its new coach on Tuesday. While there is some uncertainty around where the program is headed, the Orange need to bring in some talent to add quality to their roster.

Syracuse could look at Lewis as an option to bolster their team for next season. The Orange also reportedly showed an interest in Lewis early in his college career.

    #4. North Carolina

North Carolina exited this year’s March Madness in the first round after a shock loss to VCU. There is still some uncertainty around Hubert Davis’ future at the program, with the Tar Heels reportedly considering a change in coach for next season.

Nonetheless, UNC should be monitoring KJ Lewis. The guard can bring a breath of fresh air to the program, which needs a lift.

    #5. UCLA

UCLA crashed out of the NCAA Tournament this year with a 73-57 loss to UConn in the second round. Bruins coach Mick Cronin might get a seventh year at the program to prove his worth next season.

Should UCLA land Lewis, it could add a different dynamic to its offense. The Bruins need a high-level transfer target given their typical need for versatile, experienced guards, and Lewis could be the solution.
