Celebrating in Disbelief After Braylon Mullins’ Wild Game-Winner, Dan Hurley Recalls 1 Thing He Told UConn Star While Recruiting Him

Dan Hurley’s UConn Huskies have done the impossible. Despite trailing by double digits at multiple stages in the game, UConn showed extreme grit and determination to grab the victory from Jon Scheyer’s Duke in the most dramatic way possible on Sunday.

Braylon Mullins stole the ball from Cayden Boozer with just around six seconds remaining on the clock. UConn was still down three points. Mullins passed the ball to Alex Karaban, who was guarded by Cameron Boozer. As the Duke players hurried to defense, Karaban passed the ball back to Mullins, who unleashed a shot from the logo with just 0.3 seconds left on the clock. BANG! UConn 73, Duke 72!

The arena erupted, and the players and the coaching staff went ballistic. Dan Hurley was shouting and screaming in disbelief on the sidelines with his staff, as Jon Scheyer, Cameron Boozer, and the rest of Duke could not believe what had just happened.

Hurley did not even wear his blazer back properly after the wild celebrations. Braylon Mullins just entered the UConn history books for the iconic moment that will be remembered for a long time. Speaking of remembering things, Dan Hurley recalled what he said to Mullins while recruiting him.

“The courage of the young man. He’s a rare human. The toughness about him to take the shot on a tough shooting night, but he was still,” an emotional Dan Hurley, with the broken voice from all the shouting, said about Braylon Mullins.

“We told Braylon Mullins when we recruited him, we are bringing him back to Indy for the Final Four, and now Braylon Mullins is going back to Indy for the Final Four,” Hurley added.

Dan Hurley Credits UConn Legends And Gives Duke Their Flowers After The Win

A reporter asked what emotions Dan Hurley was going through during the game and how they made the inspired comeback. He said it’s the UConn culture and heart.

“It’s what Geno built, and coach Calhoun built, what Kevin Ollie carried on. We just believe we are supposed to win at this time of the year,” Hurley said.

He continued to applaud his team for being courageous and for fighting hard to get back in the game. Hurley also praised Jon Scheyer and the twins: Cameron and Cayden Boozer.

“Those Boozer boys, they’re the toughest people I think I’ve ever shared the court with,” he said.

We just witnessed one of the most iconic moments of the March Madness. This is what makes the NCAA Tournament so great. The insane comeback win was also special because, except for the first minute and a few seconds, UConn did not lead the game until the very last second.
