French basketball player Narcisse Ngoy is joining the Auburn Tigers for the 2026-27 season, after a dominating season in the French second tier professional league. A professional player in the Pro B League, he was named the MVP of the tournament this season, while also receiving the Defensive Player of the Year award.
The Auburn Tigers got the commitment from the French player a couple of months ago, in March of this year. Ngoy stands out particularly on his physical stature, at seven foot tall.
Ngoy played for Chorale Roanne Basket, Rouen Metropole Basket, and Poitiers Basket 86 in France. Ngoy has also played for the French national team, representing his nation at the 2024 FIBA U20 EuroBasket.
Steven Pearl on what bringing Narcisse Ngoy means for Auburn
Back in March, Auburn’s Steve Pearl gave the following statement about getting the Pro B League standout. He seemed very happy about the potential of what Narcisse Ngoy can bring to the Auburn Tigers:
“We’re excited to welcome Narcisse Ngoy to our program. He’s a high-upside young man who brings toughness, physicality, and a team-first mindset to everything he does,” head coach Steven Pearl said when Auburn announced his signing in March. “Narcisse has a strong feel for the game on both ends of the floor. His instincts, ability to catch and finish around the basket, rim protection, and willingness to embrace contact will make him an immediate impact while filling a huge need for our team.”
“What stands out the most is his commitment to winning,” Pearl said. “He’s not focused on individual numbers—he takes pride in doing the hard, physical work that helps his team succeed. He competes at a high level, processes the game well, and understands how to play within a system.”
He was recognized as an elite defensive prospect, being the Pro B League’s leading rebounder (11.8), top shot blocker (2.8 per game), and leader in player efficiency rating (20.6).
In his last season with Poitiers, he averaged 10.8 points, 11.8 rebounds, 2.6 blocks and 1.0 assist per game in a 30 game campaign. Most notably Ngoy averaged he averaged 13.0 points and 13.0 rebounds in his last five games, which is incredibly encouraging for the Tigers.
