The Arkansas Razorbacks are looking to win their second-ever SEC Tournament this afternoon, when they take on the Vanderbilt Commodores at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville.
The championship game is an unexpected one, as the Hogs and Commodores are the No. 3 and 4 seeds, respectively.
The No. 2 seed, Alabama, was unexpectedly knocked out of the tournament in the quarterfinals by Ole Miss, and the No. 1 seed, Florida, was eliminated by Vanderbilt in the semifinals. The Razorbacks eventually eliminated the Rebels in their own semifinal.
Arkansas has won the SEC Tournament just once in its history, back in 2000. However, it has reached this stage eight times, the last of which was in 2017.
For its part, Vanderbilt has won the SEC Tournament twice, in 1951 and a little over a decade ago in 2012. Those are the only times the Commodores have reached the championship game.
Both teams have been starved of success for a long time, and they will want to win this time around.
Arkansas vs. Vanderbilt betting odds
| Team | Open | Spread | Total | Moneyline |
| Vanderbilt Commodores (26-7) | -1.5 (-110) | -1.5 (-110) | o166.5 (-112) | -130 |
| Arkansas Razorbacks (25-8) | u169.5 (-110) | +1.5 (-110) | u166.5 (-108) | +110 |
The game is basically a toss-up, and the Vanderbilt Commodores are slightly favored by the bookies. That’s probably because they’re playing in their hometown. DraftKings has the Commodores as -1.5 point favorites for the game in Nashville.
The ESPN game predictor is slightly more confident in a Vandy victory, giving it a 57% chance of winning. However, in a championship game, anything is possible, and the Razorbacks will give it their all.
Arkansas vs. Vanderbilt Prediction
The Razorbacks do have one secret weapon up their sleeve: Darius Acuff Jr., who is considered one of the best players in the country. He has shown up in a big way during the SEC Tournament. He scored a whopping 37 points against Oklahoma and 24 against Ole Miss on Saturday.
If Acuff shows up, the Hogs have a serious chance. They already defeated Vanderbilt handily in the regular season, 93-68, and we expect them to double up and get another win.
Prediction: Arkansas 90-86 Vanderbilt
