Alabama HC Nate Oats Makes His Feelings Clear on Aden Holloway’s Arrest

Alabama Crimson Tide coach Nate Oats shared his feelings about the recent drug arrest of one of his key rotation players, Aden Holloway, on his own radio show. On Monday, March 16, the Crimson Tide Sports Network released an episode of the “Hey Coach with Nate Oats” show on YouTube with host Chris Stewart, a day after the 2026 Selection Sunday.

Mike Rodak shared Oats’ statement on X/Twitter when the coach was asked about Holloway. The tenured tactician said he was disappointed. Nevertheless, he still has adoration for Holloway and hopes the junior will resolve the issue and not lose out on his basketball career.

“Look, we’ve got standards in our program. We’ve got ways we’ve held our guys accountable. We try to keep everything in-house. Obviously, some of the situations you can’t. This is one of those. The situation is a little different when we found out what was going on this morning… I found out this morning. I guess it all went down this morning. We had to suspend him pending the investigation by the UA office of student conduct,” Oats said.

“We’re disappointed in his behavior. With that said, we still love him. He’s still our guy. We’re going to get him the help that he needs…We’re preparing to play without him this weekend,” he continued.

Holloway was arrested on Monday morning after agents with the West Alabama Narcotics Task Force searched a residential property near the University of Alabama campus. There, they found more than a pound of marijuana, cash, and other paraphernalia that is being determined to be Holloway’s.

Aden Holloway Is No Longer A Part Of The Alabama Crimson Tide Roster

In a follow-up report by collegiate hoops writer Pete Thamel, published on ESPN, it is said that Aden Holloway is no longer with the team and has been officially removed from the University of Alabama campus.

If Holloway is truly no longer part of the roster, it will prematurely end his two-year stint with the program. Holloway was a part of the Auburn Tigers in his first year, before transferring to Alabama in his second.
