Why Was Aden Holloway Arrested? All We Know About Charges Against Alabama Star

On the precipice of March Madness, Alabama found itself with a new situation to deal with. Star Aden Holloway was arrested on Monday. Here’s a look at what we know about the arrest.

According to a spokesperson for the Tuscaloosa police department via Bama247, a search of a residence in the 400 block of 30th Avenue East on Monday morning took place. The search recovered more than a pound of marijuana, paraphernalia, and cash.

Holloway was charged in alleged connection to the search with a first-degree possession of marijuana and failure to affix a tax stamp, with bond set at $5,000.

Alabama reporter Nick Kelly confirmed the situation on X in a Monday report.

It appears Holloway will be in a race against time to get out in time for Alabama’s upcoming game against the Hofstra Pride. The matchup will be the first round of the NCAA tournament, and Holloway’s presence could be a catalyst for the game.

Aden Holloway’s Arrest Complicates Alabama’s Game Plan Ahead of March Madness

With Aden Holloway now at risk of potentially missing the game, Alabama will need to pivot quickly. Holloway is the team’s second-highest scorer on average per game, and losing him could be a problem. Even if Holloway can be on site for the contest, he will have every reason to play in a state of shock.

In a sport requiring finesse like basketball, any distraction could be enough to knock Holloway off his game. Even if present physically, Alabama will need to have three different game plans.

One plan would assume that he’s able to focus and get on the court. Another plan would assume he is unable to play due to absence. The last game plan would be if he’s available, but off his game.

It could fall on the coach to be forced to make an in-game judgment call on which plan to follow. All of this could be a lot to handle in a short amount of time. Fans can only hope that Holloway can get out in time and be focused enough to play as if nothing was going on behind the scenes.
