AJ Dybantsa is one of the shining stars in college basketball this season as he was one of the most hyped player coming out of high school. He had a splendid high school career and started his college career with some aplomb. However, he is not the only impressive freshman in this class.

Colorado’s Isaiah Johnson has definitely made a mark with his performances. In 26 games so far, he averaged 16.5 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.6 assists. However, his consistency hasn’t helped Colorado much. The Buffaloes have a 4-9 conference record and a 14-12 overall record.

As for AJ Dybantsa, he and BYU have maintained decent momentum all season. They are 7-5 in conference play and 19-6 overall. Dybantsa has been part of everything that’s impressive for BYU this season.

In 25 games so far, he averaged 24.4 points, 6.6 rebounds and 3.8 assists. He is in fine form as he hit the 36-point mark twice in the past five games. But BYU has won only two of those five games. Despite winning the last game vs. Colorado on Saturday, AJ Dybantsa wasn’t the best player on the court.

Colorado freshman Isaiah Johnson ended up with 27 points with five rebounds and four assists. He went head to head with AJ Dybantsa, who was impressive as well and had 20 points and 13 rebounds. Johnson’s 27 points caught the eyes of some NBA stars.

LeBron James’ former teammate Tristan Thompson dropped a comment to express that he was impressed by NBA trainer Chris Johnson’s son Isaiah. He commented three fire emojis. Apart from him, 2017 NBA champion Matt Barnes also appreciated the young freshman. Barnes’ son Isaiah also commented, “cold,” to give props to his name twin.
