Mel Kiper Ranking Shedeur Sanders at No. 9 Fuels Firestorm from Shannon Sharpe, Ryan Clark

Without analyst Mel Kiper Jr.’s participation in ESPN’s NFL Draft coverage, the draft wouldn’t feel much like a draft. In Kiper’s latest mock draft, he has Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders falling to the ninth spot, where the New Orleans Saints sit.

Shannon Sharpe, Ryan Clark Respond to Mel Kiper

On ESPN’s First Take, Kiper recently discussed why he sees Sanders falling to New Orleans at No. 9.

Kiper mentioned that the Saints would be an ideal fit because they play indoors, which could help compensate for his lack of arm strength.

As Kiper also stated, playing in a dome seemed to work well for Drew Brees and Peyton Manning. This prompted Pro Football Hall of Fame tight end and current First Take analyst Shannon Sharpe to respond.

“I agree with you, Mel…I like this spot…It’s not how you go. It’s where you go.”

Former Super Bowl champion and current ESPN analyst Ryan Clark also had this to say on the show:

“If you cut the film on and block out all of the outside noise, he plays the position like the position is supposed to be played.”

    Shedeur Sanders’s NFL Ceiling

While Kiper was honest about Sanders and his skill set, he still has a great chance to have a strong NFL career, especially in the right situation.

He shares many of the significant characteristics that other good quarterbacks have had.

While playing in a dome with an offensive head coach like Kellen Moore would be perfect, he could perform well anywhere, seeing as he threw for over 4,000 yards and became the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year in Boulder, Colorado.
