Is Deuce Knight Transferring From Ole Miss? Debunking Viral Pete Golding Claim Amid Trinidad Chambliss Return

Trinidad Chambliss is heading back to Ole Miss for another season, which means the NFL will have to wait for one more year. While his future at the professional level is on pause in a relatively clean choice on his side of things, the negative fallout is taking place at Ole Miss.

At least, that is what appears to be on deck for Pete Golding’s Rebels after he made an alleged promise to incoming quarterback Deuce Knight, per Pete Nokos via No3 Sports in a Friday X report.

Pete Golding reportedly “assured” Knight he’d get the starting job regardless of Chambliss’ return. No other reports appear to back up the claim, but Knight has reportedly removed his Ole Miss posts from Instagram.

This signals that he might be on the way out shortly after committing to Ole Miss.

Knight is relatively untested at the FBS level, coming off a season with the Auburn Tigers in which he saw action in just two games, ending the year with two touchdowns and zero interceptions.

It goes without saying that if the choice is between the unproven Knight and Chambliss, Ole Miss’ choice is already made, lest the program wants to instantly lose its fanbase.

Potential Landing Spots for Deuce Knight That Make Sense

If Deuce Knight decides that he can’t afford to wait a season behind Trinidad Chambliss and wants out, several high-profile teams make sense for the quarterback.

The Miami Hurricanes lost Carson Beck to the NFL. With Beck gearing up for the NFL Combine, Knight transferring a short flight away to Miami makes sense. If he wants a team that proved it can get to the National Championship, he would have a hard time going elsewhere.

The Indiana Hoosiers under Curt Cignetti have a reputation for cleaning up their roster via the transfer portal. Following up Fernando Mendoza would be some big shoes to fill, but joining Cignetti’s team would be a shortcut to a huge spotlight heading into 2026, which could only help his eventual NFL resume.

Diego Pavia is also another departing quarterback whose vacancy would make sense for Knight to fill. There is a lot of attention on his team due to his accomplishments in 2025, so Knight could have a solid chance of capitalizing on the team.
