Xander Schauffele Ends Fifth Longest Cuts Steak in PGA Tour History at Farmers Insurance Open 2026

Xander Schauffele’s 72-event cut streak has come to an end after the star golfer missed the cut at the Farmers Insurance Open 2026. The fifth-longest cut streak was snapped after he missed the weekend by one stroke.

On Friday, January 30, Xander Schauffele entered the second day at TPC Scottsdale at 1-over and needed a big round to make the cut. He began the day with back-to-back birdies and was 3-under for the day after ten holes. With a bogey next, he picked two more birdies and was 4-under with five holes to go.

However, the two-time major champion bogeyed the penultimate hole and finished at 2-under after 36 holes. The cut line was 3-under, which meant the ace golfer missed the weekend for the first time since 2022.

Prior to this week, Schauffele had last missed the cut at the Masters Tournament 2022. Since then, he made 72 straight cuts, which included six wins and two of them were majors.

Schauffele’s 72-event cut streak is the fifth-longest in PGA Tour history and the longest active streak since Tiger Woods. The record stands with Woods, who made 142 consecutive cuts followed by Byron Nelson (113), Jack Nicklaus (105) and Hale Irwin (86).

“Nice to have weekend off” – Xander Schauffeler reacts to missing the cut at the Farmers Insurance Open

Following his first missed cut since 2022, Xander Schauffele reflected on his performance at the Farmers Insurance Open 2026.

“It’s going to be nice to have the weekend off,” he said jokingly. “Going to go home and relax and regroup.”

Schauffele added that last-minute tweaks to his equipment affected his performance this week

“So unfortunate I didn’t get that dialed in in the offseason, but it is what it is,” he added. “So here I am. I’ll spend this weekend cleaning it up.”

The 32-year-old also insisted that the cut streak wasn’t in his mind.

“There’s no boards on the North Course so I kind of missed my putt and I looked at Austin and I said, ‘Is that it?’ He further added, ‘Yeah, you’re done,’ and I was like okay. So, you know, in terms of pulling a tooth, that was kind of it.

“I think the whole point of the streak is you just — I mean, Scheffler’s on a good one and you don’t really think about it, you’re just trying to hit as many good shots as possible and make as many good putts as possible. I had plenty of golf today to make it and bogeying a drivable par 4 and parring two par 5s in the middle of the fairway, you deserve to miss the cut. So here I am,” he continued.

Xander Schauffele will next compete at the WM Phoenix Open 2026, which will be played from February 5 to 8 at TPC Scottsdale.
