Tiger Woods’ return to competitive golf has been highly anticipated by the golf world. Arguably, he is the greatest golfer of all time, and he has been away from the game for more than a year, with his last PGA Tour appearance coming at the 2024 Open Championship. Since then, he has been absent from the game for several reasons, one after the other, with the last being a back surgery, which he underwent in October 2025, and he is still recovering from it.

In December 2025, Woods stated that his recuperation from back surgery had been slower than usual, which has pushed his return date even further back. The golfer then provided another massive update on his recovery at the 2026 Genesis Invitational, which he was present at as the host. Woods revealed that he may make a comeback at any point, claiming that even the Masters in 2026 is possible.

Despite that statement, Tiger Woods has yet to make a return, despite the fact that the Masters is only four weeks away. The Players Championship is another one of the major tournaments where his return is possible. But despite that, till now, Woods has not been mentioned as a participant in the tournament. The Players will begin next week, March 12, at the TPC Sawgrass, which also acts as the PGA Tour’s headquarters.

The tournament will feature only 120 golfers, a significant decrease from the 144 golfers who competed last year. While Tiger Woods will not take part in the competition, the golf world has gone crazy over it. Talking about Woods, he is currently active in the TGL, but he has not indicated that he will return soon.

The TGL season is now heading towards its end, with the semi-finals being the next edition on March 17. Interestingly, Tiger Woods’ team, Jupiter Links Golf Club, will also be taking part in the event, but the golfer has yet to confirm his availability. When asked what Woods was thinking towards the semi-finals during a news conference for the March 3 edition of TGL, following their match versus The Bay Golf Club, the golfer gave an answer in limbo.

Interestingly, Woods dodged the topic, saying he will be there and that even if he does not play, he is looking forward to it. According to Asap Sports, the golfer explained:

“I’m looking forward to it. Well, I’ll be here either way.”

Tiger Woods’ first tournament might be the Masters, which will take place on April 9 at Augusta National. While the majority of the tournament’s field has been decided, the full list has yet to be released.
