Sam Alexis Woods has stated that, unlike her father, Tiger, she despises golf, primarily because it prevented her from spending time with her father as a child. Tiger Woods even mentioned in an interview that he needed to pack his belongings and depart, which led Sam to believe that golf had snatched his father away. In an interview with the Today Show in May 2024, Woods justified this by saying,

“You know, hey, when she was growing up, golf took daddy away from her. I had to pack, and I had to leave, and I would be gone for weeks, and there was a negative connotation to it.”

While Sam is not a golfer, that does not mean she is not interested in sports; she was an avid soccer and track and field athlete at her school. She also served as captain of her soccer team and eventually led them to win the Florida State Championship. Tiger was also in the audience for the final of this tournament, and he applauded loudly for his daughter when she led her team to such a tremendous victory.
