    Who Is Jay Madara? All About the Key PGA Tour Figure Retiring Next Month

    Jay Madara is one of the prominent names who has contributed to the PGA Tour’s growth in the last few years. He currently serves as the Circuit’s Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Madara joined the PGA as onky the Executive Vice President in 2021, but eventually, he was formally appointed as the CFO in 2022. After being a significant figure in the circuit, he will shortly be stepping away from all of his responsibilities.

    According to recent reports, Jay Madara is all set to step down from his job next month, effective after March 31. Madara is currently 54 years old, and rather than going anywhere else, it has been reported that he has decided to retire. Before joining the PGA Tour, he was the CFO for some of the largest organizations in the sports sector, including Golf Channel and NBC Universal Media.

    For the PGA circuit, Madara is unquestionably a name that has helped them grow in a variety of ways, especially financially. He was one of the key figures for Strategic Sports Group’s significant investment in the tour. Not only that, but as the circuit’s CFO, Madara introduced the big idea of the Player Equity Program, which introduced a novel ownership paradigm to the sports business.

    Apart from that, Jay Madara is one of the highest-paid employees on the tour, with some reports claiming that as CFO in 2024, he received more than $2 million from the circuit. Not only that, but he is also named as the Tour’s treasurer on the non-profit Form 990. Brian Rolapp, the tour’s current CEO, also commented on the retirement during a press conference.

    After Jay Monahan resigned as PGA circuit commissioner, Brian Rolapp took over as CEO. Since then, he has made some key steps for the circuit, and recently, he talked about Jay Madara’s retirement after doing so much for the tour. In his remark, Rolapp emphasized how Madara has aided the circuit’s long-term prosperity.

    The CEO also extended his best wishes for his CFO’s future projects and jobs, as well as those of the trip. Rolapp claimed that

    “Jay has been an instrumental leader during a period of significant change for the PGA Tour, and his financial stewardship helped position our organization for long-term growth. We are grateful for his contributions and service and wish him and his family all the best in retirement.”

    Aside from the above mentioned things, Jay Madara was instrumental in the formation of PGA Tour Enterprises, which will fund the circuit’s future profits. Interestingly, the PGAs were able to retain Korn Ferry as the title sponsor for their development circuit in the future, for the convenience of their next CFO.
