Australian golfer Wade Ormsby replaced Phil Mickelson at the LIV Golf Adelaide 2026 event. The American golfer has withdrawn from the first two events of this season of the Saudi league. He did not play in the Riyadh event and is also not playing this week at the Adelaide event.

HyFlyers had shared the news about Phil Mickelson’s replacement by sharing a post on its X (formerly Twitter) account with a caption:

Wade Ormsby had played on the LIV Golf circuit last season as a reserve. He competed in two tournaments and had some decent finishes. Last season, he played in the Riyadh event and tied for 25th place, then played at the Adelaide event and finished in 50th place.

Phil Mickelson has released a statement on his X (formerly Twitter) account about missing the first two LIV Golf events in 2026. He said that he would not be able to “participate” because he and his wife, Amy, “need to be present for a family health matter.”

Ollie Schniederjans replaced him in the season-opening event in Riyadh last week. Schniederjans, however, struggled with his game. He settled with a score of 2 under and tied for 56th place. Lee Westwood also withdrew from the game last week. Elvis Smylie won the season-opening event.

Phil Mickelson had also not played at the LIV Golf Riyadh event last year. He started the last season at Adelaide with a T23 finish.

Phil Mickelson had an impressive time playing on the LIV Golf circuit in 2025. He finished solo third at the Hong Kong event and solo sixth in Miami. Some of his other notable finishes were T4 in Virginia, T23 in Andalucía, and T25 in Chicago. He also played in four majors but missed the cut in three and tied for 56th place at The Open Championship.
