Tiger Woods has been hinting at his long-awaited return for quite some time now. He has not been a part of competitive tournaments for more than a year, but during the 2026 Genesis Invitational, he stated that his return could take place at the 2026 Masters. Interestingly, Woods later stated that he may be able to return even sooner and compete on the PGA Tour or the Champions Tour.
The 13-time PGA Tour Champions winner, Jerry Kelly, recently spoke on SiriusXM PGA Tour radio and stated that he really wants Tiger Woods to come and play on the Champions Tour. Woods may be a critical component of the Seniors Tour because his participation not only increases competition in the tournament but also reignites some of his old rivalries. Kelly highlighted this claim.
“We’ll see what happens. I really hope he plays, you know, I mean, we just love to play against him again. It’d be really cool. I know, I know, he wants to do his PGA Tour thing. No question, but you know, I think he’s already dropped so many hints about you know coming out. You know a great place to get ready. I get to be in a buggy and all that kind of stuff. So I don’t think he’d be dropping that many hints if he wasn’t gonna.”
Woods’ potential return has yet to be confirmed, as he is not mentioned as a 2026 Masters participant as of this writing, but nor has he been removed from the list of champions who will not compete in the event. The tournament is still three weeks away, so the golfer has only a couple of more tournaments on the PGA Tour and the Seniors Tour to practice before teeing off at Augusta National.

According to ESPN, Woods explained,
“I said I’ve been working on it. Sometimes I have good days, sometimes I have bad days. Disk replacement is not a lot of fun. So as I said, I’ve had a lot of procedures prior to that, so the body doesn’t quite heal like it did when I was 24. Doesn’t quite bounce back. So I have good days when I can pretty much do anything, and other days where it’s hard to just move around.”
Tiger Woods also stated that he attempted to return in every TGL game but was ultimately unsuccessful.
