Tiger Woods and Scottie Scheffler are, without a doubt, among the greatest golfers of all time. The two of them have multiple records to their names, and while Woods’ dominant reign is no longer active, Scheffler has demonstrated what it may have looked like with his enormous talent and dominance in the golf world. Interestingly, a six-time PGA Tour winner recently spoke about the two of them, claiming that they are among the only golfers capable of completing one of golf’s most challenging feats.
There are some holes across the world that are known to pose a threat to golfers. Holes like 12 at Augusta National and 17th at TPC Sawgrass have devastated many players, and a similar hole is the Coliseum hole at the Waste Management Phoenix Open. This hole has a difficult setting and is approximately 162 yards, and hitting the green has always been a significant challenge on this hole.
In an interview with HITC, Rickie Fowler discussed the course, and when asked if he would be able to hit the green at the Coliseum hole, he instead named other notable golfers. Fowler noted that Scottie Scheffler and Tiger Woods are the first names that enter his mind when he thinks about competing. He went on to explain that there are a few alternative names, such as Xander Schauffele. The golfer stated:
“Couple names that come to mind, Tiger, JT, Scottie, obviously right now. Cantlay. We can keep going down the list. Xander. Guys that stand out and obviously guys that continued to play well or had careers like Tiger, they’re not afraid of those situations and the moment.”
Tiger Woods and Scheffler have discussed each other on various occasions, and they have shown mutual respect. Interestingly, Scheffler is also on course to potentially break one of Woods’ most enduring records.
Scottie Scheffler has the potential to break Tiger Woods’ record of dominance

Tiger Woods had one of his most dominant runs between June 2005 and October 2010, when he was World No. 1 for 281 weeks in a row. This was an unbelievable record and for a very long time it is belived that no one can come even close to it, but it was recently reported that Scottie Scheffler is already halfway through and has a chance to break it.
According to an X page called Tracking Scheffler, the golfer has been World No. 1 for 140 weeks, and to break Tiger Woods’ record, he must keep the position until October 2028. While it may appear impossible, the 28-year-old presently leads the OWGR, and his red-hot play might take him very close to this record. The X post stated,
“Scottie Scheffler begins his 140th consecutive week at OWGR No. 1 this week. He is just under halfway to Tiger’s record of 281 weeks in a row– which means he would have that record on Monday, October 16th 2028”
Scheffler has also secured his first win of the 2026 season at the American Express, which was also his 20th PGA Tour win overall.
