Patrick Reed has kicked off his 2026 season in the best way possible: with a huge win. The LIV Golfer recently competed in the 2026 Hero Dubai Desert Classic, where he secured a comfortable win. Reed finished the tournament with a total score of 14 under par, four strokes ahead of second-place finisher Andy Sullivan. But it seems like, despite such a huge victory, Reed’s future with LIV Golf appears to be uncertain.

Following his huge win at the Emirates Golf Club, Patrick Reed revealed to the media that he had not properly discussed his contract with LIV Golf. Reed noted that there have been some timing issues as he competes in tournaments from Thursday to Sunday and does not want to take his focus away from his game. He claimed that this is why he only has a few days left to talk about all of the contract negotiations.

According to a recent X post by Flushing It Golf, Reed stated,

“We’re still finalising the contract (for this year). We’re not complete on that yet. t’s one of those things that I don’t like to talk business and stuff while I’m playing, and so it’s like Monday through Wednesday is the only time to really talk about it. And so, it’s just kind of one of those things that, you know, getting here this week, I knew that once Thursday got here, just focus on golf and golf only. You know, starting tonight and tomorrow, we’ll get back to talking and things like that.”

Patrick Reed also indicated that he intends to move forward with a more positive attitude, as he is looking forward to transferring the momentum from his win to next week. In the same interview, the golfer stated that he is hoping to be in the competition on the leaderboard during his next tournament’s final round, too. Apart from this, the golfer also discussed the cause for his contract’s delay.

Is Patrick Reed’s LIV contract being delayed due to money issues?

When asked about this at a news conference following his win at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, the 35-year-old golfer simply said no. Patrick Reed, who is currently a free agent, stated that there is a lot more talking and writing going on behind the scenes than just money talks, which is why the contract has been pushed.

According to the Asap Sports, Reed claimed,

“No, I mean, it’s just — I mean, it’s just one of those things with contracts and stuff. There’s a lot of language and wording in contracts and everything, and really, at this point, I mean, I don’t know where everything stands. I mean, everything could have been done and completed. I mean, I haven’t talked to my team these past couple days. It’s been an odd time, obviously, back home compared to me being here.”

Patrick Reed also complimented his LIV Golf team, noting that they have all given him a lot of support in tournaments, which has helped him focus. He is a member of the 4 Aces Golf Club, which also includes Dustin Johnson, Thomas Detry, and Thomas Pieters.
