Patrick Reed was unable to turn a strong start into a win at the 2026 Bahrain Championship. The former LIV Golfer has been in excellent form in recent weeks, even winning his first tournament of the season last week, at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic. Reed had strong momentum coming off a win in Bahrain, and he finished the tournament with a total score of 17 under par, tied for first place.
Along with Reed, Freddy Schott and Calum Hill had a total score of 17 under par, resulting in a three-way playoff. After some tough shots and a couple of holes, Freddy Schott was able to take the better half of the playoff, and the 24-year-old won his first DP World Tour event. Reed technically finished third in the tournament, as he was the first to be eliminated from the playoffs after bogeying the first playoff hole.
NUCLR Golf featured the tremendous playoff between the golfers in an X post that also included a little video from the final hole, where Schott secured his first win. The caption of the X post stated,
“🚨🏆🇧🇭 #WINNING MOMENT — Freddy Schott claims victory in Bahrain to secure his first DPWT win, defeating Patrick Reed and Calum Hill in a playoff.”
Freddy Schott’s win broke his five-year winless streak since turning professional. He even made a little remark after his big moment, claiming that it was quite a surprise for him to win and that he was so excited that he had no idea what had happened. He stated:
“Extremely happy, surprised. I don’t know what’s happening right now.”
Interestingly, while Reed was ousted first in the playoffs, he and Hill were paid equally for their big campaign in the event.
How much did Patrick Reed, Freddy Schott, and Calum Hill make at the Bahrain Championship?
