Patrick Reed has sent shockwaves across the world of golf by announcing that he will be returning to the PGA Tour. A Ryder Cup hero for Team USA, Reed spent significant time with LIV Golf and was one of the biggest names in the PIF-backed league. However, following his win at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic 2026, Reed has now decided he will be returning to the PGA Tour.
On X, Reed posted a message through his official handle, in which he first announced he would be returning to the Tour. Furthermore, he also announced that he would compete on the DP World Tour, and mentioned he can’t wait to display his talents on both tours. In his post, the 35-year-old professional golfer also sent a message to LIV Golf and 4Aces GC.
Patrick Reed wrote:
“To Dustin Johnson, The Aces, and LIV Golf, I want to thank you for the memories we shared and created together.”

However, while concluding his message, Reed asked fans to respect the decision to leave LIV Golf for the sake of his family, children, and future. LIV Golf reacts to Patrick Reed’s decision to rejoin the PGA Tour
The month of January has been difficult for LIV Golf and senior executives at the PIF-backed league. First, LIV had to deal with Brooks Koepka returning to the PGA Tour, and now they find themselves in a similar situation with Patrick Reed. However, despite these hard blows, the Saudi league seems focused and ready to take on the challenge.
In a statement released on the official X handle of LIV Golf, the league seemingly handled Reed’s departure in a very professional manner. While LIV acknowledged that they failed to reach a contract extension with Reed, they wished the golfer the best and further mentioned that they look towards the future.
In what seemed to be a positive and encouraging statement, LIV Golf wrote:
“We were not able to come to terms with Patrick on a potential contract extension. We’re grateful for everything he contributed during his time on the 4Aces at LIV Golf and wish him the best. LIV has always been an advocate for player movement and recognizes that when golf settles into a new normal, players will not only have the right, but the opportunity to play golf when and where they want.”
The statement further read:
“As we look forward, our focus remains on building teams and a league that fans can believe in and players enjoy -those who compete at the highest level, play the game the right way, and understand the responsibility to grow the game around the world by engaging fans and celebrating partners.”
In conclusion, the statement from LIV Golf mentioned that they are building the world’s best league, and every decision taken is guided by what is best for the long-term future of the game, players, and fans. While LIV seems determined to get up after being knocked out, it will be interesting to see how they move forward after losing two big names and failing to sign any.
