Patrick Reed is all set to start on a new chapter in his golf career, as he is gearing up to make a major return to the PGA Tour. According to circuit reports, Reed will be able to reinstate his PGA membership beginning with the 2027 season. Until then, the golfer will be competing on the DP World Tour, and he has recently revealed a massive goal for himself in the upcoming 2027 Ryder Cup.
According to Todays Golfer, Reed claimed in an interview that he wants to be a member of Team USA in the 2027 Ryder Cup and that he enjoys being Captain America. Interestingly, the golfer stated that Ireland (where the next Ryder Cup will be held) is a place where he can perform well and has a firm grasp on his game. According to a recent X post by NUCLR Golf, the golfer stated:
“It’s just something that I’ve always known how to deal with (fans on foreign soil), especially during Ryder Cups and Presidents Cups. It’s bringing back those juices. Any way I can represent my country and play for the United States is always on my radar.”
Interestingly, fans flooded the comments section of this post with support for Patrick Reed. Some fans claimed that he will not only be an important team member for the upcoming Ryder Cup, but that if he had participated at Bethpage, things could have turned out differently for Team USA. On the other hand, several fans voiced disappointment, claiming that Team USA would find another excuse to drop Reed next season.
Talking more about these fans’ comments, here’s a look at a few of them:
“Love him or hate him, he absolutely has to be on the team. One of the few guys that shows some passion and can stir the pot.” One fan stated.
“He would have killed it in bethpage, instead you have that loser JT who’s hiding a back injury but goes out first and flops all week, then gets surgery 2 weeks later. Such a joke.” Another fan explained.
“They’ll find a reason to leave him of the team again and we’ll continue to lose.” One fan claimed.
“USA needs him on the team.” One fan expressed.
“Let’s go CAPTAIN AMERICA!!!” Another fan stated.
Aside from the aforementioned things, Patrick Reed also discussed the 2025 Ryder Cup and Team USA’s fightback on the closing day of the competition.

“I think with how badly the team was getting beaten through Saturday, and that fight that they gave on Sunday, and whatever Keegan told the guys that Saturday night, you always have to believe you have an opportunity to win. But to actually almost do it and come back was something that I’m proud as an American to see our guys fight like that, and a captain to rally his team like that.”
Patrick Reed is currently at 29th in the Official World Golf Rankings and has won his first DP World Tour event this season, the Hero Dubai Desert Classic.
